<stepDesc>The data included in this attribute table are obtained from a variety of sources which are in different stages of completion. The process steps indicated here assume that the data come from paper copies of geotechnical reports, as this requires all of the steps. Some data sources have been scanned geotechnical reports, and others have had point locations already digitized. In these instances, some of the process steps are not followed as they have already been completed. 1. Scan the geotechnical report and save it to the file system. This file will be made available to the public using an internet hyperlink. 2. Georeference maps in the report that show locations of borings. 3. Digitize the point locations of each boring while noting carefully the horizontal accuracy that can be expected from the particular georeferenced map. 4. Enter all attributes from this feature class that are available in the report. 5. If the elevation of the borehole is not included in the report, it is obtained from lidar (if available), or from DEM (if there is no lidar coverage of the area). Version history: Version 2.0, August 2017 New attribute tables added and schema adjustments made to the tabular data, document, and borehole feature class. Approximately 4,000 boreholes found to be either duplicate, mis-located, or lacking any quality data were removed from the database. Roughly 4,500 additional boreholes added to the database.
Version 1.2, September 2016 Approximately 4,000 new geotechnical borings were digitized and added to this dataset. This work was funded by the National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program. Version 1.1, October 2015 Approximately 5,000 new geotechnical borings were digitized and added to this dataset. This work was funded by the National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program. Version 1.0, October 2014 Data digitized by GeoMap Northwest and newly digitized data from the Division of Geology and Earth Resources were combined for this release. A more concise schema than that used by GeoMap Northwest was used to improve the readabilty and usefulness of these data.</stepDesc>
